ABOUT THE ARTIST

Richard Becker, NSS

BIO
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Richard Becker's formal education was focused on the sciences, earning a Masters degree in engineering from Stanford University and several patents. While living in Barcelona he reawakened to art and began creating sculpture. He has since studied at the Escola d’Art Barcelona, Vaugel Studios Venice Beach and at the Los Angeles Art Academy.

In 2003 Richard received the Edward Fenno-Hoffman Prize for an uplifting body of sculptural works and in 2010 was elected into the National Sculpture Society, New York City.

With works ranging from serious to offbeat, his public and corporate art includes “Liberation,” the 15’ POW Monument for the US National Cemetery, a strength/faith figure for the Good Samaritan Foundation in Dayton, Ohio, several sculptures for the Emmys Hall of Fame in Hollywood including Mary Tyler Moore and Ron Howard, and a bronze homage to Homer Simpson for Fox Studios in Los Angeles.

His latest creative works celebrate the wonders of life and art.

His home and studio are in San Diego, California.
